The Pileated Woodpecker is one of my favorite birds. It's always exciting to see them going tree to tree. Sometimes when I look for other birds, I hear them around and the sound gets my attention and I forget about the bird I just saw and head towards the woodpecker. When they are looking for carpenter ants it sounds like a loud hammering through out the trees. They are the size of a American Crow (just for an idea of how big they are). These photographs were taken in Lincoln Woods state park in Lincoln.R.I. on 3/09/13

Fishing

I was watching the Osprey fish when I captured this shot of it coming out of the water. They are fun to watch diving in for the meal. I'm glad to have the experience of seeing them fish.
It almost looks like he's doing a water dance all alone.

In Plain Site

First time I saw this Owl I couldn't be more amazed at how well it was hiding and how beautiful it was. I have watched these birds for a few years and have seen 2 Owlets from the pair. What a site to see them in the wild.
I respect them and there hiding spots,But love to photograph them. I haven't seen the red phase for about a year, but the grey one is still hanging around. And I'm happy that it's there.
Alot of peope do not realize how much wildlife is in Rhode Island. Every time I see walkers they always ask me "are you a profesional? Do you work for a news paper?"
My responce is always "no it's a hobby and theres a bird"..lol

This feeling is amazing

One day I was sitting in my car near the Seekonk river watching the seagles, all of a sudden they went up and went back down.I thaught to myself "there must be a hawk", Then i herd the geese start to panic. Grabed my camera, steped out of the car and said "thats an Eagle" looked to my left and there it was.
This has to be by far the most exciting picture I have ever taken. I took 19 picture series of this Eagle flying over me and was amazed by the way it flew upside down over me.
I have only seen this maneuver when they are courting. I think it was showing off..lol

Buzzing around

This is probably one of the hardest birds to photograph.
I was leaning against my car when one flew by. I looked around to see where it went, then I saw it buzzing in the bed of flowers. I think I took like 100 shots before it took off and disappeared into the green background. Sometimes I hear buzzing around my ears in the spring, and I have to look before I swat my hands (witch I never do anyway) incase it's a humming bird and not a bee..lol
I'm so happy I got a couple of good pictures of this little bird.

Learn from the Fox

This was one of the best thing I saw this winter. A beautiful Red Fox going after it's prey that it buried before the snow started, and the winter was almost over.
I have read about and watched documentaries on how foxes bury there food when they know it's going to be a bad winter.
This was my last sighting of this Fox. The same week I saw 3 at the cemetery.
What a great sight.

True Freedome

The first time I ever saw an American Bald Eagle in the wild.

Was at the Seekonk river in Providence,R.I.

It was the most amazing feeling and sight someone could experience.

Being able to photograph these amazing creatures and to have them fly over me wild and free. There are realy no words to discribe how I feel when this happens.

I am truly Blessed to have these experiences in my life.
